Love Our Children USA is the leading national nonprofit and ‘Go-To’ prevention organization fighting all forms of violence and neglect against children in the U.S.

Since 1999, Love Our Children USA has broken ground in preventing violence against children and eliminating behaviors that keep them from reaching their full potential. Love Our Children USA teaches effective parenting solutions and fosters kid success by creating valuable programs that empower positive changes in parenting and family attitudes, bullying and cyberbullying prevention, Internet safety and school violence prevention through public education. The goal of Love Our Children USA is keeping children safe and strengthening families.

The Issue

America’s children suffer from a hidden epidemic. Every year over 3 million children are victims of violence and neglect, and those are only the ones that are reported. National statistics from 2012 showed increases in some forms of child maltreatment for the first time in many years. While overall substantiated child maltreatment was flat from 2011 to 2012, there was a 2% rise in sexual abuse and a 5% rise in physical abuse. Neglect declined 3% but child maltreatment fatalities rose 4% from 1,557 to 1,620.

Because this epidemic is so under-reported, the actual number of children being harmed is 3 times greater. Approximately 3.3 million reports and allegations were made involving an estimated 6 million children in 2009. Every ten seconds, violence and neglect against children is reported. Almost five children die every day as a result of violence and neglect. Nearly 600,000 children live in foster care. Almost 1.8 million are abducted. The Center for Disease Control estimates the cost of child abuse for a lifetime is $124 Billion. Read more about child violence and abuse in the U.S. here.

Every day 1 out of 7 kids and teens are approached online by predators, 1 out of 4 kids are bullied. Depending on the age group, 43% of students say they have been digitally harassed. 9 out of 10 LGBT students experienced harassment at school and online. 8% of students miss at least 1 day of class per month for fear of Bullies Suicides as a result of bullying are senseless. No one deserves to bullied for any reason.
