when giving using over-the-counter medicines to your child:

  • Do not use medications longer than the label instructs or give your child higher doses, unless your doctor specifically tells you to do so.
  • Never mix medicines with any of the same active ingredients.
  • Do not use cough, cold, or allergy medicines to sedate your child.
  • Do not give children medicine intended for adults.
  • Unless advised by your doctor, do not give aspirin-containing products to children and adolescents for cold or flu symptoms.
  • Do not use oral cough and cold medicines in children under four.
  • If your child develops any side effects or adverse reactions, contact your doctor immediately.
  • Keep all medicines out of your child’s reach and sight.
