Decisions regarding the best interests of children are very difficult ones. The current “System” is far from perfect, but it’s all we have. However, reviews of State statutes, regulations and policies to assure compliance with Federal statutes related to these matters can be investigated. Decisions as to how and when to investigate allegations of abuse, prosecution of alleged perpetrators, and the resolution of custody or visitation disputes are made by the agencies and courts in each State according to State statutes.
Current State statutes on child abuse, and neglect represent a difficult balancing act between the need to protect children from the serious and increasing problems of child abuse and neglect and the need to ensure that parents are not unjustly accused. Each State has a State Liaison Officer (SLO) for child abuse and neglect; and you may want to take your concerns to that level. Please find your State on the list and contact that office.
